Make the front unit:

Layer the muslin on the wrong side of the “lip” fabric.   Trace the template on the muslin layer, and stitch across the center stitching line.  In the muslin layer only, make a small slash in about the center of both the upper and lower lip.  Now stitch around the outside of the lip shape.  Trim, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.

Stuff each lip loosely – we don’t want “hard lips,” now do we??  The stuffing can be concentrated along the center stitching line, emphasizing the curves.  Leave the outer edges of the lips very soft, so they will easily fit under the sewing machine presser foot!!  Whip the slashes closed, taking a small tuck in the muslin to “round” the front lip shape slightly.  Set aside.

Interface the lining layer with a fusible interfacing.  Use a scrap of “shirt fuse,” if you have it, or use 2 layers of a medium weight fusible interfacing.   Fold the two pocket pieces with wrong sides together, and layer them on the right side of the interfaced lining fabric.  Line up the bottom edges, with the taller pocket underneath the shorter pocket.  Pin layers together.

Pin the front (lips) section with the muslin layer against the wrong side of the lining and pockets “unit”.  Stitch around the lip shape, just inside the first stitching line.

Make the back:

Fold the small zipper tabs in half, wrong sides together.  Place the folds across the ends of the zipper tape, with one just above the zipper pull, and one about 4-1/2 to 5” down the zipper.   Stitch across the folds.  Double stitch the bottom end tab, and then cut off the excess zipper tail.

Fold the two “sides of zipper” pieces, with wrong sides together.  Pin one fold along one side of zipper tape.  Use zipper foot and stitch close to the fold.  Repeat for second side of zipper.

*If you want to use Velcro instead of a zipper, cut the two side pieces 7” x 7-1/2”.  Fold them wrong sides together.  Stitch the Velcro pieces to the underside center edge of one and the top side center edge of the other, overlap the centers, and use as “back unit”.  Follow same directions for completing the wallet.

Put it together!

Place the front (lips) unit right sides together with the back (zipper) unit. **Open the zipper at least part way so you can finish opening it after stitching!!   Pin and stitch around the same stitching line, just inside the previous stitches.  Trim SA to a scant 1/4".   Clip the seam allowance in the top lip curve.   Pink or zigzag or serge the seam edges, especially if using very ravely fabric.

This is how the “front” side looks inside when finished:  The pockets should hold your credit cards easily.

Turn right side out.  Use chop stick or point presser to smooth out seamline.  Here's the back of the finished "wallet"!

Voila!  You have a “Kiss The Frog” wallet that will hold your credit cards and a couple bucks!  Have fun with it!
